SITE INTRODUCTION
Use
this site to explore our school aims, organisation and policies
using our online Prospectus.
The Curriculum
pages are for supporting home study by providing students and parents
with information about the curriculum and where possible we have
included links to internet resources.
Other pages give updates on recent school activities, details of
future events and items of interest to pupils, parents and friends
of the school. There are reports on trips in this country and abroad
eg Ski
Idsall.
Follow the Web
Site Links to reach the subscribed online learning
resources. Here, pupils and staff have the facility to access their
school email accounts and our intranet site. Visitors can also read
recent copies of correspondence sent to all parents/guardians via
'Parents'.
HOW BEST TO VIEW THE SITE
The site has been designed for use with Internet Explorer
5 or later and Mozilla Firefox 1.0. The recommended screen
resolution is 1024 x 768 or higher but the page
widths also fit exactly using a resolution of 800 x 600.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Why am I unable to view the objects on the left
hand side of the screen?
There is an interactive menu on the left of most
pages and in order to make the
most of the site you need the plug-in 'Macromedia Flash Player'
which can be downloaded free. Click
here for a link to the Macromedia download site.
-
How do I open
Word documents from the site without Microsoft Word installed?
There is a free viewer available from Microsoft that
lets you view, print and copy Word documents, even if you don't
have Word installed. Click
here for a link to the Microsoft download site.
- How
do I open
pdf documents?
There is a free pdf viewer available called Adobe Reader which
opens pdf (portable document format) files. Click
here for a link to the Adobe download site.
- Why
isn't the 'Menu' on the Curriculum Page working?
JavaScript
is a basic scripting language that allows pages to react to user
interaction. The Curriculum Page contains this kind of script
to display a number of menu items and therefore Javascript needs
to be enabled in your browser. In Internet Explorer 6:
-
Select the "Tools Menu"
select "Internet Options"
- Change to the "Security"
tab
- Select "Custom Level"
button
- Make sure "Enable" is
selected under "Active Scripting"
- Restart the browser
- I
know that a web page should have been changed but I am not seeing
the changes.
When
browsing the web, copies of pages you view are stored locally
to allow faster access when you return to them. If you are using
a PC within a network environment, then some of these pages may
be cached on your organisation's server. Pages are also stored
by your browser on the PC you are using. If you know that a web
page has been changed but you are not seeing those changes, you
need to make sure that you are not viewing a stored copy.
You can refresh the page you are viewing by clicking on the
Refresh button in Internet Explorer or the
Reload button in Mozilla Firefox and Netscape.
If the page is still not updated, you can try a further
refresh by holding down the Ctrl key and pressing F5
in Internet Explorer or holding down the Shift key and clicking
the Reload button.
-
I am being asked to “Click to activate and use this control” when I click on links in Internet Explorer.
If it is an active control (like a Flash menu, for instance) you must click the control to "approve" it before the Flash navigation buttons will work. This has appeared since a Microsoft Internet Explorer update. The links in this web site are being modified to avoid this issue but in the meantime there is a patch available from Microsoft, click here.
-
Why can't I log into the school network?
Please check the current network status and view the instructions for logging in, click here.
