Year 6 to Year 7 Transition

Transition from primary to secondary school is an incredibly important time, and is run by a team of experienced teaching and support staff, led by Mrs J Reeve, who is also the Head of Year 7.

The transition process runs throughout the whole academic year, from the school open evening in September, right through to Induction Day and the associated parental information evening that is usually held in July. As a school, we try and do as much as we can to support our year 6 pupils with their transition to secondary school, and this includes visiting them in their primary schools, arranging visits to Idsall, supporting with the arrangements to purchase uniform and holding a parental information evening. In addition to this, the Head of Year 7 also liaises closely with the local primary schools, in order to gain important academic and pastoral information with regards to each pupil – ensuring that we know as much about each pupil as we can before they join us.

Any letters or information that has been sent out this academic year, can be found below. If you have any queries regarding Y6 to 7 transition, please contact Mrs Reeve via email:

Here is a link to the presentation that would have been shared with parents at our Induction Evening, scheduled for July. Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances, this evening has had to be cancelled. Please read through this, alongside further information being posted to your house towards the end of June. If you have any questions following the receipt of this information, feel free to contact Mrs Reeve, Head of Year 7, via email.
